Position Description:
Organizational Background: The Ford Family Foundation is focused on ensuring that children have the family, educational and community supports they need to succeed in life. We are committed to the rural communities of Oregon and Siskiyou County, California with investments in rural community-building, grantmaking and scholarships. Vibrant, robust rural communities and economies depend on their ability to attract and sustain working families. Likewise, outcomes in life often depend on community systems that support lifelong health, educational success, and wellbeing. This is the intersection and future of our work.

The Role: The Postsecondary Success Department focuses on the administration, design, development, and evaluation of the Foundation’s postsecondary success initiatives, the largest of which are the scholarship programs. The goal of these initiatives is to promote access and success for students who might otherwise not have opportunities to continue their education beyond high school and help them to transition into the world of work post-graduation. The Program Associate, Scholarship Awards reports to the Scholarship Programs Manager and collaborates regularly with another colleague in support of awards. This role also works closely with the Director of Postsecondary Success, the Student Success Counselor, and the Administrative Associate for Student Supports.

The Program Associate, along with their colleague in the partner position, is responsible for the monitoring, calculation, and disbursement of nearly $12 million in scholarship funds to approximately 1,000 recipients annually. This Program Associate builds relationships and works closely with their caseload of scholarship recipients and financial aid partners on college campuses. The position is responsible for ensuring budgets submitted by schools are accurate and meet Scholarship Program policies. The decisions made by the Program Associate commit this office to a specific course of action, carry fiduciary responsibility, and determine whether a student receives financial assistance to attend or continue attending college. The Program Associates serves as back up to the Programs Manager on issues related to policy. Foundation intent is to provide selected candidates with opportunities to grow within this position into the realm of academic advising and counseling.

The Program Associate also participates as needed in a variety of program-related meetings and occasional special Foundation-wide projects. This position is located at the Foundation’s office in Eugene and is required to occasionally travel and work outside normal business hours, including some evenings and weekends. Workload can be significant due to varying deadlines and multiple priorities during the year.

This is an exempt position; salary is $60,000 annually and the Foundation offers a generous benefits package. Benefits for employees include full medical and dental insurance, generous retirement contribution and match, paid time off, holidays, professional development, Employee Assistance program, Matching Gifts, Rejuvenation Leave, and more.
