Position Description:
The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for:

  • The administration of student financial assistance programs
  • Formulation of department policies and procedures
  • Communication with student and staff
  • Budget planning and implementations
  • Supervision of financial aid staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains current knowledge of federal and state policies, regulations, laws and best practices in regard to student financial aid.
  • Monitors regulatory changes, evaluates impacts on the University of such changes, communicates impacts to relevant departments and individuals, and coordinates the University’s response to ensure compliance.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the operation of student financial assistance programs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manages all aspects of the financial aid office’s operations
  • Satisfactory academic progress
  • Collaborates with technical services and other relevant departments to ensure successful implementation and maintenance financial aid management software as well as integration with enrollment and academic information systems.
  • Manages timely and accurate institutional and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Institutional Annual University Appraisal
  • Ensures that the communication and interaction between the financial aid office and related administrative service departments including admissions, student support services, registrar, and business offices is effective, clear, accurate, and concise.
  • Manages scholarship awarding process and other projects as assigned.

Employee Supervision:

  • Accomplish department/division objectives by supervising employees and monitoring their progress and performance.
  • Maintain departmental staffing by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Develop employees within their roles via coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with all direct reports to monitor performance, track progress on the completion of work duties and responsibilities and discuss successes and challenges. •Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.
