A Letter from your President...
June 22, 2011
Welcome to the Oregon Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) website. I am honored to have been elected President of this fine association.
It looks like 2011-12 will turn out to be another challenge with the number of financial aid applicants still on the rise and the addition of new program integrity regulations. The challenges to the basic funding for programs are under scrutiny and we will need a full-court press to keep what we've got. One of our major initiatives will be to continue to impress upon the Department of Education and our legislators the need for relief of the administrative burden that prevents timely delivery of aid to our students.
We exist to serve the interests and needs of students, educational institutions, government agencies, and associate members through coordination of plans and programs pertinent to student financial aid and to assist educational institutions, government agencies, foundations, and private and community organizations to promote and develop effective programs for student financial aid and student success.
We represent institutions of all sizes and types-from small proprietary schools to large land-grant universities. We include representatives of the associate sector which includes lenders, software providers, servicing agencies, and others who provide support to our students and schools.
Volunteers are the life blood of OASFAA. We have committees that provide training, mentorship, regulatory support, multicultural/diversity activities, and provide a voice from our association through public relations. These are just a few of our committees and I would like to encourage you to take a look and see how you may help.
Please visit our website often. Here, OASFAA will continue to keep you current on all Association activities, training opportunities and schedules, committee reports, as well as many other features. This is the central place to keep us connected-to each other and to our industry.
Best wishes for a productive and successful year. I look forward to having you participate in our Association's activities throughout the year.
Bert Logan
