The OASFAA Summer Drive-In is a full -day event for Financial Aid Administrators held each August. The agenda includes a keynote address and a selection of workshops on timely issues in financial aid. This is a great opportunity for colleagues to network and learn from each other before the fall rush begins.

FA 101
$250 suggested minimum donation helps to offset meal costs
A full-day course that covers the fundamentals of Financial Aid. The class is offered once or twice a year and is limited to 40 participants. The material is designed as an overview for new financial aid officers and those aspiring to the counseling field. A team of seasoned financial aid administrators examine the history and philosophy of financial aid, eligibility requirements, types and sources of aid, needs analysis methodology, verification and financial aid application and processing.

FA 201
$250 suggested minimum donation helps to offset meal costs
A full-day course designed to enhance the knowledge of financial aid professionals. The training is offered once a year. FA 201 is targeted towards the ‘intermediate’ professional, in terms of experience or position or both. The topics go beyond the basic rules and regulations into looking at some of the dilemmas, challenges, and debates involved in implementing and managing financial aid at the institutional level.

Support Staff Workshop

A one-day workshop for financial aid support staff held in late November or early December. This training event addresses the needs and concerns of personnel in the financial aid office who are either on the frontline, interacting with the public or behind the scenes supporting essential functions. In addition to their important contribution to the financial aid team, support staff provide an important and essential information resource for students. The focus is typically on customer service, communication skills, trends in higher education/financial aid and general processing issues.

Oregon Leadership Institute

A two day intensive training for financial aid directors and associate/assistant directors, as well as those with expectations of becoming directors in the near future. The curriculum focuses on a broad array of management topics, such as supervision, funds management & budgeting, legal issues, state and national trends, audits, etc.

Annual Conference
$800 suggested minimum donation helps to offset meal costs
A three-day event held the first weekend in February. A packed agenda of keynote addresses, general update sessions, workshops, panels, and discussion forums are offered covering a variety of topics and relevant issues. The schedule also includes a welcome session for newcomers, President’s Reception, recognitions/awards ceremony, and the OASFAA business meeting. There are social, entertainment, and recreational activities, both formal and informal, throughout the conference. This event provides a rich opportunity for learning, problem solving, and networking. Refreshments are served in a central Exhibit Hall providing ample opportunity for attendees to view displays and meet with exhibitors.
